Modern Feminism Vs. Actual Feminism

So basically I am ashamed to admit that I participated in a twitter war. There's just certain subjects I can't keep my mouth (or rather my keyboard) shut! Ever heard of the hashtag #IDontNeedFeminism? It is the most painful thing to read. Basically it's full of a bunch of poorly informed people posting things like
"#IDontNeedFeminism bc the number of times a woman has put me down/insulted me/harassed me far exceeds the number of times a man has."

I don't want to have to explain why this is so SO wrong. But here's my favorite to add on to the bogus train: "IDontNeedFeminism because if a man killed his child he would go to prison, but if a woman kills hers she's considered pro choice."

At first I wanted to bash this user who obviously has no clue what Feminism is. I had a discussion, and I say discussion because it was a very calm argument where I stated my opinions and he stated his with no accusations or insults, that showed me that the girl who posted these wasn't a stubborn asshole. To her Feminism is a bunch of girls whining about how terrible men are and wanting free everything. At first I saw this view point as idiotic and ignorant. But if you Google the definition of Feminism the first definition is "the advocacy of women's rights on the grounds of political, social, and economic equality to men." This is 100% wrong and it shocked me to see it as the main definition. Feminism is actually a movement for equal rights to all women AND MEN. Real feminists work for that purpose. Do you enjoy not having anything segregated? That's because of Feminism. Enjoy voting? Feminism. Do you want to be able to persecute a rapist regardless of each others gender? Feminism is desperately trying to make that possible. I believe the term Feminism was first coined during the women's rights movement but was never meant to be specifically for women only. It's always been about everyone. However now a days that can get confused since so many girls are calling themselves feminists and whining about how terrible men are for not paying for their...well everything. What that twitter user was referring to without realizing it, isn't feminism. It's considered modern feminism because the majority of "feminists" are the ones claiming these outlandish demands as feminism thus creating these insane movements like #IDontNeedFeminism.

Knowing this, I'm not upset with people for having these feminists opinions (even though I don't know a soul that doesn't enjoy the rights feminism made possible) as long as they understand that it isn't actually feminism but rather an evolved terrible misuse of feminism. Honestly it still frustrates me because modern feminism still isn't feminism. It's just like if I sat down and called it dancing and got enough people to call it dancing that everyone else now refers to it as dancing. I'm still sitting, the term dancing didn't change to "the act of laying on your ass and not moving" just because the majority falsely believes it is. So calling these fake feminists as actual feminists is personally an insult to the feminist movement and the good that we're trying to create. I will continue to call out these anti feminists in the hopes that they'll open their un educated minds and realize that they are terribly and depressingly wrong.

Kendall Jones

I'd hate to give this girl anymore attention but I just have to write about it...

First off let me start by saying I am not against hunting. I personally don't do it but considering I'm from Texas as well I've been around it enough to know it's not bad. Hunting, in my opinion, is okay as long as you're only killing for food. Killing an elephant, lion, leopard, zebra, and countless other exotic animals hardly seems to fit within that definition. Now Kendall claims that what she's doing is "helping conserve wildlife" and helping the economy of Africa. It cost $10,000 to hunt in South Africa PER SHOT, so obviously money isn't a problem for her. Instead of using all that money to kill endangered animals to "help the economy" why couldn't she had just donated the money to build wells or decent houses or anything that didn't involve the pointless murder of these animals.
Now with the conserving of the wildlife, I'm not completely aware of how that works but it sounds like it makes no sense at all. Jones claims that with the lion she was actually helping increase their population by hunting them. As if that could make sense in any universe. She said that since lions travel in packs of several females and one male there couldn't be an over load of males otherwise they would kill each other off in a fight for dominance. So killing the males with her gun/bow/whatever she used is helping them. My thought is that we're taking the typical superior American thought that we can take your life into our control because we know what's best for you. How does she know that they would kill each other? Yes we know that it is very likely the males will do that but isn't it better to leave that choice to the animals? Taking control and killing the lion because it was going to die anyway isn't doing anybody a favor. Maybe they would miraculously not kill each other and increase their dwindling population or maybe they would fight to the death. But I would rather see an animal die through natural king of the jungle style brawls than a narcissistic girl with a bow.

If you're against what Kendall Jones is doing please help keep her out of South Africa by signing this petition.

Men's Rights Groups

Recently I've been seeing a lot of woman complaining about men creating a men's rights group...can't help but laugh at the irony of a girl screaming about how they don't need "a group for an already privileged demographic that constantly rapes us." Isn't the point of woman's rights groups to make everyone equal and diminish stereotypes? Isn't claiming that men can't have a rights group because all men are rapists with all the rights in the world doing the exact opposite of said goal? I'd hate to break it to the wonderful girl who said that quote that she is in fact the very reason activists groups were created. Yes it's true that men do seem to be favored in a lot of fields. But that by no means make them immune to injustice. According to thehathorlegacy.com, 1 in 10 men are rape victims. That statistic is questionable though because men as rape victims is seen as such a joke that there are hardly any information to work off of. Men are seen as the stronger sex, another point that women try to show is not true. Hearing a case of a man being raped by a women is comical to many because, well...he's a man isn't he? He could have just pushed her off! Clearly he wanted to have sex with her. But what if he had pushed her off? No matter what gender, if you're dealing with a rapist, a little push isn't going to do anything but piss them off. She might start hitting him. Punching, kicking, whatever she may feel she needs to do to get him to comply. Eventually he will have two choices; he could hit her hard enough for him to get away and then be charged for abuse because oh my god you hit a woman! Or he could just have sex with her and not even think about calling it rape because come on man, you could have gotten away if you wanted to.

Saying that men don't deserve to fight for their rights is just like back in the day when we felt that African Americans didn't deserve to fight for theirs. We are supposed to be one nation. Women and men, races of all kind, equal in every way. Maybe instead of fighting each other we could try fighting for each other, and start making a positive difference.
